Why are silicone toys more expensive than latex toys?
There are a number of reasons for the price difference. Silicone is a non porous, hypo-allergenic material. Silicone toys are practically indestructible…the worst thing you can do is cut a silicone toy. You can boil your silicone dildo for up to 5 minutes or even wash it on the top rack of your dishwasher. Generally the manufacturers of silicone toys tend to be smaller companies and you’ll find very innovative designs. Silicone has no scent or phthalates.
Why can’t I mix silicone lube with silicone toys?
Generally silicones are not compatible with each other. They cause each other to break down, so if you were to apply a silicone lube to a silicone toy it would cause the silicone in the toy to become unstable.
My hard plastic phallic shaped vibrator kind of makes a rattle sound…any ideas what to do?
Well, because it is hard plastic and the batteries are placed in the cylinder, you may experience a little more noise. But there are ways to make your toy a little quieter. Try a good quality alkaline battery like a Panasonic. They are slightly larger in size than regular heavy duty and will fill the cylinder space better than heavy duty batteries which will stop some of the rattling. The other advantage to using alkaline batteries is that they last 4 times longer than regular batteries.
Why doesn’t my Laya Spot turn off?
You do have to be careful when placing the batteries inside of the Laya Spot. Inside the Laya Spot, there are instructions as to which position to place the batteries, please pay careful attention to that. If you put them in the wrong way, your Laya Spot will actually run, but will not turn off! A unique problem, but a very easy one to resolve.
What are those red dots on the batteries on the Honey Pet?
The Honey Pet is good value as it is very well priced and comes with a pair of starter batteries. The red dot ensures that the batteries stay fresh until they are ready for your Honey Pet. Just take off the red dot, place your batteries, positive end down, screw the cap back on and enjoy your Honey Pet.
What does that washer on my waterproof toy do?
The washer makes the toys waterproof, if the washer is removed or lost the toy will no longer be waterproof. Remember to make sure that you turn the cap tightly. With all these tips your toy will live up to its claim.
Why doesn’t my battery operated toy work?
It may seem obvious, but do check to make sure the batteries are in the correct way. The battery positioning varies for each toy. Generally if your toy takes 2 C cell batteries, then both will be positive end down. If your toy has a black and red cap, make sure the batteries are in a positive/negative position (so one up and one down). Make sure that the cap clicks into place. Most other toys will have a faint diagram for directions. Once you’ve double checked your battery placement and checked with a couple of other batteries and are sure that your newly purchased toy is not working, feel free to contact us. We can arrange to check out your recently purchased toy and if it is in fact not working, we’ll be glad to exchange it for you within a month of purchasing it.
Why should I take my batteries out of my vibrator?
Two simple reasons; if you leave the batteries in, you could drain the life from the batteries and the other reason is left unattended some batteries will leak and corrode. Keep batteries out of your toy, when not in use and you will avoid this issue.
Can I heat up my glass dildo?
Yes, but we recommend just under running warm water and never more than what would be comfortable to your touch. You could also cool your toy down in the same manner with running cold water. Never expose your glass dildo to extreme temperature either hot or cold. Remember common sense rules apply.
I’m allergic to latex condoms…are there any other options?
Yes, you do have some choice. Durex makes a polyurethane condom called Avanti. It is thinner than latex, some say more comfortable to wear and still protects you against pregnancy and STI’s (or sexually transmitted diseases). You could also consider the Female Condom, also made of polyurethane. This is different because it is inserted inside the woman, rather like a baggy, but it also covers the labia, making it excellent barrier protection when engaging in oral sex. Finally some people swear by lambskin condoms. They really are made from intestinal membrane from the lamb, so not so good for vegetarians or vegans! Lambskin condoms will not protect you against STI’s. Lambskin condoms do protect you against unwanted pregnancy. They are also tough to find. If you try asking at the pharmacy counter, you may get lucky!
Does glycerin in lubricants cause yeast infections?
Well not really, in fact, some yeast infection cures contain glycerin. An existing yeast infection can be made worse by using products containing a large percentage of glycerin. This is because the sugars in glycerin act as a food source for the yeast. Women who are prone to yeast infections should use a lubricant that does not contain glycerine like Hydra Smooth. So although glycerin is not the direct cause of yeast infections, it can aggravate them.
I have sensitive skin, can I use those warming lubricants?
Well, you may find them to irritating. The best way to know is to get a sample size or try a sample in the store. The inside of your wrist is quite sensitive, so try a little dab there, give it some time, if nothing happens then you’re probably good to go…but if you are unsure and don’t want to take a chance…listen to your instincts and just enjoy some other kind of stimulant like a vibrator.
Should I use a toy cleaner with my toy?
You certainly could, but you could also use soap (dish detergent) and water for easy cleaning. You could also use condoms over phallic shaped toys, especially if you’re sharing your toy or moving from the anus to the vagina. Remember not to get water into the motor, if you do you may ruin your toy!
Is there a type of lubrication that I should be using with my anal toy?
We recommend a thick water based lube like Maximus or Probe Classic. A thick water based lube will literally provide a comfortable area for anal play. It is also the most flexible of lubricants. You can use it with condoms unlike like an oil based lube which will break down a latex condom and although silicone lubricant is great for lasting a long time…you should not use silicone lubricant with silicone toys. If you’re interested in anal toys, perhaps try a toy like Silk small or Buddy. They are made from silicone, have a flared base and are non porous, a good thing when having fun with anal play. If you’re not sure where to learn more about anal sex why not try reading a book like Anal Pleasure & Health or a DVD like The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex. Remember you don’t have to use a sex toy to enjoy anal play, fingers work miracles! Again, hygiene is important, so think about using gloves and make sure that your nails are trimmed…you don’t want any rough edges. Most importantly do what feels comfortable and use your common sense.
